Conception Convo with Sarah

Welcome to the Conception Convos: a series of recorded conversations about conception and the many roads that people take on their journeys to create their families. My goal is for people to share their stories in a raw and mostly unedited way (not just because I’m not a video editor, ha!) so that others can find solace and inspiration from their experiences, and most importantly, know that they are not alone on their fertility journeys.

Sarah was born in Chicago, grew up in California and lived in Washington DC for about a decade before moving to Shanghai, China for a stint and then relocating to New York City with her husband in late 2019. In April 2020 she gave birth to her first child at the age of 30 at the height of the Coronavirus Pandemic in NYC. In her free time she loves traveling, exploring the natural world and daydreaming with her son. Sarah's conception story began in her early twenties when she was diagnosed with primary ovarian insufficiency / premature ovarian failure and told she would not be able to conceive. Little did she know what was in store for her...

Sarah salutes all the other pandemic parents and those supporting them! She is also a doctoral student of anthropology and is conducting a research project on motherhood which you can learn more about by clicking here. You can also reach her by email at sgvx928[at]gmail.com.

Watch or listen to Sarah’s interview for:

  • What it was like to start the fertility journey at a young age after a diagnosis of premature ovarian failure

  • An exploration of the egg freezing process

  • How the decision to freeze her eggs led her on a magical journey across the world!

  • Thinking outside the box of conventional fertility knowledge

Sarah’s story is a very special one - enjoy, and please share to anyone who may benefit!
